We are starting a new fishing club on campus. Many of our students live at or below the poverty level and don't have the money to purchase equipment necessary for them to participate in a club like this. I don't want that to hold them back and I definitely don't want to turn away students because we don't have the equipment.
We will also be hosting watershed cleanups and teaching the students to be good stewards of the land.
These are some basic supplies to get started.
We need a minimum supply of lures and bait. This is a good base supply to encourage students to join and help our club get off its feet.
Many of our students have never been fishing or even to a place where they can fish. This is something new for many of them and we are looking to spark their interest. I have many friends that are just discovering the joy of fishing halfway through their life, and I don't want this to happen to my students. This is the perfect way to get students outdoors and caring about something enough to become stewards to the environment and have a skill to hand down to their next generation.
