If we truly want to prepare our students for the real world, we need to put them in responsive, dynamic environments that reflect life outside of a traditional classroom. And what’s that life outside like? Full of choices, where adults are responsible for their own learning.
Seating options for students are meeting the kids’ needs and also allowing them the responsibility and flexibility to choose where they will learn best for the day. Having these choices will help them be in control of their actions and their day. This is why I would like to provide students with the choice to stand during the day. They could sit on a stability ball which helps their bodies stay focused on learning and not playing.
