This is an example of silent reading. Younger students who cannot read on their own are read to by an older student. Using engaging read aloud books increases their excitement about reading. As you can see, everyone is enjoying this book. Although only one student in this group cannot read, other students were listening. I work for Rocky Boy Schools and my job placement is at K-8 school on a Hutterite Colony. With 17 students in 7 grade levels, I have specialized in differentiation. My students are ESL (English as a Second Language), they do not learn English until they are six and begin attending school. We work very hard on vocabulary development and pronunciation as we well as all areas of the curriculum.
