This donation will allow my students an opportunity to participate in online classroom discussions, create projects and take advantage of the technology integrated learning that is offered with the textbooks. The tablets will also be beneficial for my classroom because many of our activities and learning is integrated with technology. Although the school has a couple of sets of tablets or laptops that may be checked out, there is no guarantee that they will be available to use among a school of approximately 1,100 students.
The donations for this project will allow the students to learn beyond the walls of the traditional classroom. The students will have an opportunity to experience technology integration in their everyday learning. I believe that technology is should be used as an instructional tool, not a subject of instruction.
The students will utilize the tablets in various ways. Schoology is a web based program that allows the students to access lessons, videos and activities that I will post on our classroom board. The students also use Popplet to create visual and interactive thinking maps in Science and Social Studies. I also use Quizziz and Kahoot for reviews over a content area. The students also like to reference Quizlet as a study guide in Math, Science or Social Studies.
As you can see, technology integration is welcomed and needed in my classroom. I believe the donations of the tablets will motivate the students, increase student communication, provide easy access to assignments and learning, allows students to work at their own pace, and prepare the students for the future.
