These books on tape will make a difference in my students' learning by teaching them how to sit and listen to a book, follow along with the reader, and turn pages as appropriate.
Many students with autism come into school unable to sit and attend to a book for extended periods of time. To help expand their ability to sit and listen, I have my students sit and follow along with three books during our listening center. It is my goal to expose them to as many books as possible to expand their reading preferences and ability to follow along with an age-appropriate book - someday reading that book themselves!
