Do you remember sitting in a circle listening to your teacher when you were little? All children love circle or carpet time when they can sit and listen to a story or lesson.
Gathering first graders together on the carpet is beneficial to not only learning but for social interaction.
We gather together many times a day to discuss topics, listen to stories, and also sit in the floor to play games.
This carpet is large enough for all my students to sit in their own circle spot and be engaged. Some students have sensory issues and would benefit from being able to move around and go from their desks to the rug when needed. The students in my class are always excited about learning and would benefit from a new and comfy space to learn.
