Our students with small hands have continued to have minimal success with classroom classical guitars. Instead of guitars, I would like to introduce my students to ukeleles. Not only does this open a new cultural avenue at an international school, but it promotes teamwork, collaboration, and communication. I cannot think of a more friendly sounding stringed instrument for elementary school children. They will feel emotionally happy to hear the ukeleles and will have an opportunity to be open-minded to trying new musical endeavors. The new instruments will improve the way our students look at all cultural experiences as a whole and will provide the school community with a unique sound that is enjoyed the world over.
