I'm a high school Construction Technology Teacher. In a low SES school, my students struggle with life on a daily basis. Caring about academics and being college educated is not at all a priority; getting by day to day is. I want to give my students the desire to learn more about construction technology and become successful in life. I want them to know that a better future is possible and attainable. In my school, 99.9% of the students are of Hispanic descent, and 99.1% are economically disadvantaged. These students come from various backgrounds and the majority have a hard life growing up. With low scores in math and science and reading, I want to ensure that my students have a fighting chance to be successful in life. Many of these students do not believe in themselves. I want to give them the opportunity to explore construction technology and become successful citizens.
