The current compasses in our school are flimsy and cheap. They are not high quality and are frustrating to use. I get frustrated using it and I know exactly what I'm doing. I can only imagine the frustration my students will feel when working with awful compasses.
Having a good compass makes all the difference when working with geometry. I want to eliminate any frustration my students will feel because of a cheap and inexpensive tool. My students have already had poor experiences in previous math class and it's not fair to them to add a tool that makes the job harder than it has to be.
