I teach Special Ed high school students with many disabilities. Flexible seating will allow my students to learn the way they learn best. Due to their different disabilities, some students need to move while working while others need complete quiet. One may need to rock back and forth while another may need to lie down. Some prefer to be alone within their own personal space. Flexible seating will allow them to have their personal learning needs met so that they can have calm productive days.
The donations for our project will improve my classroom by reducing the amount of behavioral issues and providing the stimulation that my students need to be successful in the classroom. With fewer behavioral issues, we can increase our learning and time on task.
Funds are very limited in our school district, as in most school districts, and, financially, I cannot afford the items needed for my students to learn the way they learn best. I love working with these students, and they have so much to offer. Their future is in my hands, and teaching them to become independent adults is my main goal.
Thank you for considering my project, and I hope you will help our class.
