5th grade is a pivotal year for students in our school district - they are the leaders of the elementary school and preparing for their middle school. To become leaders of the community they need to learn more about the world and current events through safe media platform. Scholastic News fits the bill perfectly! Scholastic News is timely, and provides not only a written magazine, but also access to videos, games, and other online media resources. We plan to use the content across curriculum areas to work on our reading strategies, writing, debating, analyzing data, connecting current events to historical events, as well as learning about science with the Science Spin.

About my class
