Budget cuts have been devastating for our team sports, leaving them with less that we can supply to our very deserving student athletes. We now have to ask players and their families to purchase much of the needed equipment, placing a heavy financial burden on many of our students.
Basketball shoes are now an expense that cannot be met by the school. Being able to provide these new team shoes will allow all of our varsity players to suit up with equal, quality, and safe footwear, giving them much more confidence on the court.
The rigorous college preparatory curriculum at my school puts an even greater burden on our student athletes. Practice times in addition to much needed study and homework hours leaves nearly no time for an after-school job that most students use for spending money and purchasing extra items that they may need. Our student athletes take on this extra burden willingly, for no other reason than the love of the game.
