Picture a coffee shop: people are working in comfy chairs, some are along the wall listening to music and writing a paper, others are collaborating at a table. Everyone has chosen a spot that best fits their needs and allows them to get their work done. We typically get the most done where we are comfortable, why can't our students?
This project will allow more seating options for my middle school students. Your gift will introduce comfy chairs, rugs, coffee tables, clipboards, stools and floor mats to replace a stiff and upright desk. This will foster more collaboration between students, higher engagement, and less behavior problems as students are free to choose a spot where they will work best. It will also allow our classroom to feel more "homey" and comfortable. As adults, we get to choose our comfort zone. Why can't students?
