I believe that a truly engaging book can spring the joy of reading. Currently, our class sets of books are not complete and students are required to share. Therefore, we cannot assign at home reading and are limited to our use of them in class. When it is time for students to reflect on their reading and use their books to complete worksheets, they are hindered by the need to share books.
Having a full class set of books will allow each student to follow along as we read as a class. I believe that something as simple as each of my students having their own book will empower them in their learning experience. Additionally, they can read at their own pace during silent reading.
Also, as a GATE certified teacher, I understand the importance of learning about inventors. I marvel in the idea of creating a unit based on the informational text of Thomas Edison.
