Our classroom community will grow by having a special group area for our class to meet, greet, and learn together. Our time together on the rug will bring us closer together and will open up opportunities for each of us to grow and learn from one another. The children in my class are learning to communicate with one another and work together. The rug will be the meeting area for our morning meetings, story time, group lessons, and a place for students to settle down to work together to build puzzles or other small group activities. Many of the children in my class come from low income/ single parent homes and have not had the opportunity to work together or to be part of building a community. My class is thrilled about the possibility of having a place of their of own to sit and learn. We discussed shapes of rugs, colors, and pictures that might be on the rug. They loved being part of this big decision!!
