These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by providing the resources to facilitate not only more hands-on learning activities; but also the supports needed to facilitate differentiation and focus groups for support in writing strategies. In addition, with having enough resources not only can my advisory (homeroom) have a clean and safe learning environment, they will also have access to school supplies, like pencils on hand should they not be able to have any.
Besides the traditional school supplies needed to support my students being prepared in the classroom - I have plans to incorporate more frequent and engaging strategies to support my students across the entire grade of around 145 students. To begin, items like the dry erase markers, paired with homemade white boards, will allow for more frequent and engaging checks for understanding on in-class science concepts. Items such as the sentence strips and chart paper will certainly be of use throughout the four Unit Performance Tasks planned for my science courses- as these materials can be combined with various support strategies (evidence sorting/ analysis charts/thesis writing) to boost students performance in scientific writing.
