This year our school is working on improving our school-wide scores in Math. This all begins with beginning number sense in Pre-Kindergarten. Students develop this sense through touching, arranging and counting objects into lines and groups. By visualizing different materials, they learn how numbers are represented. These materials will help my students to be able to work in groups, arranging and playing games with instruments or learning toys to truly develop this basic number sense.
My students will use different instruments to tap and play sensory beats, or counts, to help develop one to one correspondence.
The puzzles and blocks will help students spatially see that one object represents one item, as well as integrating our themes, music and play, which is the best way for Kindergartners to learn. During this crucial year of focusing on beginning math, we really need engaging math materials and we can not afford even the most basic supplies. Please help me to get my students the supplies we need so they can grow and learn.
