It is very important for children to learn through play at this age. This would be used as an independent learning center. I would change the sensory objects weekly. Sensory objects would range from beans, magnetic items, marbles, letter recognition, math counting games, literacy games, nature items, dinosaur bones, and much more. It will be used for much more than just sand and water. Imaginative and Creative Play- Whether its building sand castles or fishing for magnetic fish, creative play improves children’s ability to understand new concepts and enables them to connect with their environment.
Through role play with their friends, children will develop social skills and emotional understanding.
The students will be able to use this item for all subjects.
Literacy-By simply adding a little water, a little dirt, sponges, a small tub or 2, cows, pigs, and ducks, the children will engage themselves in the retelling of Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Farm by Joy Cowley over and over again!
Math -Using measuring spoons and cups, containers of different sizes and measuring scales to gain an understanding of measurement, weight and counting.
Physical Development- It's a fun way to develop children’s larger muscles, gross and fine motor skills.
Promoting Calmness- It can be very calming, meaning that it is an excellent activity for children who are a little hyperactive, those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and those with other disabilities.
