A student in my class asked me to read the novel Eleven by Tom Rogers. The book is about a boy who lives in New York, turns eleven, on September 11, 2001. The book explained the disaster in a kid specific way, and the ending has a twist that no one sees coming.
Please allow me the opportunity to reach my students by allowing them to step back into the past.
After reading the book I reached out to Tom, and he has offered to help me reach my students by doing a SKYPE session with them about his novel and to encourage them to write. He also offered me a link that will allow my students to read along the last chapter of the novel.
