The goal of this project is to create a student ran business for fundraising. Rather than simply selling candy bars at inflated costs, students will design and create items for sale (mainly vinyl stickers and t-shirts to start). There are many ancillary aspects to this fundraising project that will facilitate student learning and growth as they earn money for their activities. The creativity will help students with the "Art" aspect of the engineering design process (pushing the shift from STEM to STEAM). Students will also be able to see the design process function all the way from idea to a finished product. Students will see first hand software design translate to the automation process through the Cricut Maker machine. Students will strengthen computer skills by using graphic software as well as spreadsheets for orders/budgeting. There are several applied math components that factor in as well like measuring, conversions, budgeting, etc. Students will learn basic business fundamentals as they market their products, while trying to achieve profits necessary for activities/needs while setting aside enough money to purchase supplies to keep the business going.
