To become successful 21st century learners, it is essential that our students develop strong literacy skills that can be used across the curriculum. With a high percentage of learners reading below grade level, our goal is to use high interest novels to engage these struggling readers.
These novels will help to ignite their imagination, while building their relationship with reading. The subject matter will captivate even reluctant readers, and will allow them to experience success with real literature, which they can connect to both personally and emotionally.
By providing our students with books they want to read, we will help them to grow into independent, successful readers.
