I am always trying to make learning not only fun but also a hands-on activity and a resource that the students can use for a lifetime. As a reading teacher, this is sometimes difficult. We are getting ready to break ground on our own school! Currently our Title I school rents space in a shopping center. I would love our high school students to spend next semester planning out a space for a healthy garden, in which we can use some of the vegetables either for an additional healthy snack for our students, or even for them to be able to take home some healthy fresh vegetables to their families during the school year! This will give the students a chance to research (read), plan, develop and put this project into action themselves!
