The goal of the requested iPads is to engage my students and let them experience the world around them. In our 4th grade Social Studies curriculum, we spend a good bit of the year learning about different regions in the United States. One way I would like to use the iPads, is to let my students research these different regions and then "transport" themselves to these areas with green screen projects.
When my students are able to virtually "visit" these areas, they'll have a memorable experience like never before. They will be able to place themselves in front of landmarks, in ecosystems that are a part of the region, etc. My students already find learning about different areas and what they have to offer fascinating, but this will make sure the lessons will stick with them in a meaningful way and give them opportunities to see things that some of them may never get to outside of the classroom.
