Lokelani Leaders: I have the privilege and honor to teach the Leadership class at Lokelani Intermediate. These students were all recommended as leaders in their classes. It is a mixed class of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The class is all about Community Service -service to the school and the extended community. I use a Problem Based Learning approach where the students decide what community need (be it in the school or the larger community,) and they decide how they want to help. Last year they came up with so many ways to help our school and community from planting trees in the National Botanical Garden, to handing out water at a marathon, to having a coin drive for Ronald McDonald House and raising money for cancer research. These kids are our future leaders!!
