The various seats I am requesting will allow students to sit in comfy spots around the classroom when they are reading to themselves and others. I want my students to want to read and sometimes simply providing a different spot to sit other than their classroom chair enables them to relax and enjoy reading. I don’t want reading to feel like a chore to my students. I want them to look forward to quiet reading time and to choose to read when there is a free choice option. Comfy seating spots have worked for many teachers and I am excited to see them work in my classroom.
