Being able to discuss and analyze what you read with others is a fundamental skill. It builds critical thinking skills, discourse skills, and public speaking skills. Reading books as a class also gives all the students equal access to the same books. Students who would normally have trouble reading this book will be supported, while students who can easily read this book will have the opportunity to read and think on a deeper level.
My students will be able to dialogue with each other about what they read with a book that is exciting, interesting, and endearing. They will have so much fun reading this book that they won't even realize how much they are learning and growing!
