One area my students struggle the most with is writing. This is an area that they are tested heavily on in the 10th grade, but it is also an area that as life-long learners they need to communicate well with others. I'm requesting a document camera, so that I can model how to edit their papers, and they use the explicit instruction to edit peer assignments. My students will be able to practice editing journals as well as larger research papers. In my classroom, we practice writing daily using cooperative learning strategies.
The addition of this technology would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of editing as well as listening and speaking as they share their paper with the whole class for feedback. Students who are confident in their writing, listening and speaking abilities will be ready to face the challenges of higher education and the workplace.
