Thank you for visiting my page, my name is Mr. Olney. I am the 7th grade World History and 8th grade United States History teacher at Laurus Academy in Metro Detroit.
My current 7th and 8th grade students range from below grade level to above grade level. To help with this wide range I try to implement a variety of teaching methods to accommodate my students' needs.
Many of my students have a difficult time sitting in a traditional desk for our 100 minute class periods causing them to become frustrated, bored, anxious, and off task. In my experience this results in the student having behavior problems in class leading them to miss out on important instruction time.
My hope is to receive 8 standing desks that will allow for some of my students to have an opportunity to stay on task while standing, moving and not becoming a distraction to themselves, classmates or the teacher.
