I am a second year teacher who is transitioning from fifth grade to first grade. I am very excited to begin teaching First Grade and I am looking forward to this school year. I have been working on setting up my new room and need some resources for my students. My students deserve the best. I want to create a bright and welcoming learning environment. We use the wonderful program FUNdations for literacy and Math Expressions for Numeracy. Our classroom has 25 wonderful first graders who look forward to learning. I am new to first grade and many of my fifth grade materials simply will not work. The teacher who previously occupied my room was very kind to leave behind some resources. However, the meeting rug is showing its age, it has been loved by many students and is ready to retire. I also have space on a wall for an extra bulletin board. This board will be used for a Math Focus Wall.
