If I could take my amazing fifth grade science students to the moon and back, I would! However, while teaching them about our amazing galaxy, stars, and universe, I am required to keep them grounded here on planet Earth. Earth/Space standards in fifth grade pose the greatest challenge to involve students in a hands-on way because of these travel constraints.
Help my students soar for the stars through galactic virtual experiences right here on Earth that will take them out of this world in their learning gains and excitement. My project starts with a virtual reality field trip made possible with VR goggles that will take them into space to compare planet sizes and locations and more. Next, students will work in collaborative teams to design a space project that ties to our fifth grade standards. Finally, students will using coding and robotics to present this project using 21st century skills.
