Chromebooks! This year, they have to take the state test on computers for the first time. Their writing has come so far, but they are terrible typers! They need to practice!
*Kids will be able to practice their keyboarding skills during their intervention blocks
*Kids will be able to use word processing programs to format their essays
*Kids will be able to play instructional vocabulary and grammar games to help their reading and writing skills
*Kids will be able to practice using the online testing platform that is brand new to them this year
*Kids will be able to use the internet for research and will be able to assess sources for validity and bias
Because of the limited funding in our school, we have enough technology to get by. This means that we have enough technology for the kids to take the tests on the computers, but not enough for students to have consistent access to computers. The computers that are in classrooms are in Math and Science classrooms because that is where they are seen to be needed more. These Chromebooks would allow my kids to access technology across the curriculum.
