The students at my school absolutely love to play the variety of world drums that I have in my classroom. I used to teach drums exclusively to my older elementary students but have recently started playing them with students as young as third grade.
"Hit it hard," I say, "This is your chance to let your voice be heard!" The only problem is that some of my younger students do not yet have the leg strength or height to properly play my Djembe and Timbau drums. In order to play these drums these students need stands that will help them keep the drums off of the floor so all of the beautiful sounds they're making can be heard. I am asking for two Djembe Floor Stands and one Conga Stand.
The faces of my students light up with I tell them they will be drumming. They demonstrate respect, critical thinking, and collaboration as they participate in my drum circles. Helping to fund this project will ensure that each of my students is able to have this joyful experience.
