I have students who would like to play the tuba, but not enough instruments to make this happen. Many of my violas and cellos have very old strings and are in desperate need of fresh strings. Plus they break from use and need to be replaced. My woodwind students are constantly in need of reeds.
These are items that wear out and break, so it is necessary to have these items available for my students to keep playing their instruments.
Many times students will break a reed or a string right before a concert and I have to do a quick repair in order for the student to perform. These are items that add to the expense of playing an instrument that many of the families I serve simply cannot afford.
