Most of my students have no access to computers at home and our school just has one shared computer lab for 250 third graders. Students with special needs often require repeated practice and exposure to new information in order to learn. Having Chromebooks would allow them an increased opportunity to practice independently, therefore making new concepts more likely to be mastered. They also require specialized help from me, such as help reading directions, and with Chromebooks they can be in my classroom so that I can assist students as needed. Last year a colleague found a wonderful program for my student with dyslexia, however I didn't have access to a Chromebook and he missed out on extra practice because of my limited access to a computer.
