This year I'm focusing on increasing my exposure and contact with as many students as possible in my school; research shows that focused, small groups specific to a centralized theme (i.e.- grief, divorce, social skills) allows students the greatest opportunity to practice learned skills and have the support of others with similar challenges as they are facing.
The funding of my project will allow me to anchor my small group and individual counseling sessions with engaging, age-appropriate visual materials and arts and crafts projects that will afford them the opportunity to meet their goals.
These materials will allow my students the ability to learn self-coping and self-regulating skills that will allow them to be self-assured and productive learners.
