My class will be taking part in a school-wide project to write a book about different countries that comprise our school community. My students will be writing about animals from three different countries. The projector will allow my students to watch videos and see pictures of these animals that most students have never seen or heard about before. The document camera will help students see the details of each animal before they draw an accurate picture. Without the projector and document camera, it would be difficult for students to visualize what they are learning about.
Because many of my students are English learners, they would benefit from the added technology in order to hear and see what they are learning about. They need multiple modes of presentation. The technology will help students use visual information to build their background knowledge about animals they haven't seen before.
After our writing is finished, we will continue to use the projector and document camera to build background knowledge in reading, science, and social studies.
