On our campus we have a greenhouse that was assigned to us to use 4 years ago. We were given some seeds to get started with and the plants were doing great, which you can see in our class picture. But we had a cold snap and all the plants died. We plan to start a Tomato Garden to sell the plants at the end of the school year. This would allow us to use the profits for the tomato plant sale to buy supplies like seeds, containers and soil for the next year. This initial set up will allow us to have plant sales for many years to come. The students that worked in the greenhouse 4 years ago loved it, they couldn't wait to see how the plants were doing each day. They were very proud of their accomplishment, then mother nature shut them down. We haven't been able to get it going again because the funding I used the first time is gone now. Plus a heater is necessary to stop the plants from dying do to a freezing temperatures. The students in my program will gain the needed hours towards graduation plus learn a life skill of growing plants in a garden. As well as learning how to start and maintain an enterprise. We would really appreciate your help in allowing my students to experience this.
