This is my second year teaching fourth grade I feel that my students need more of an opportunity to bring technology into our daily lessons. With a document camera in the classroom, I would be able to maximize instructional time and decrease time wasted on using a projector. On multiple instances, I was not able to show an instructional video that would have been a great visual for my lesson. A lot of my students are visual learners and would benefit from using technology. With the Apple TV/Apple TV adapter, I will be able to mirror informational videos and websites from a computer, move freely around the room, display pictures of student work and annotate my teaching model or student work live with my students. With the document camera, I will be able to show student writing samples, math problems, math manipulatives, or even igneous rocks during our rock unit. The opportunities to use the document camera would be endless. Both of these items with help my students get involved more with our lessons and I believe will increase student engagement and achievement.
The use of an Apple iPad Mini in our classroom would make a huge difference for my fourth graders. Right now we are sharing a laptop cart with six different classrooms. This is very difficult to manage and sometimes I would like at least one student iPad for classroom instruction. With the iPad my students would be able to use technology to do research, go on educational apps or look up something they want the answer to. My class loves math websites and they love to practice their math facts on these sites. This IPAD would be very useful in my classroom and I think it would help my students become independent learners in fourth grade.
