While k'Motion Stools are not a new classroom tool, they are part of new realizations of best practice in the classroom. For centuries children have been told to sit still in their chair and complete their schoolwork. Today, we know that this is not best practice. We want to provide our students with the ability to wiggle while they work increasing their motivation and engagement in the task at hand. No one child learns the same way. We want to provide options in classroom seating to set students up for success. I am requesting funding for several k"motion Stools, an ergonomic stool lets students keep moving while sitting still. My school's PTA graciously purchased a couple stools which the students love. I need more so that my students don't have to ask "Is it my turn for a wobble stool?" as they walk in the room.
Classroom seating should not be a 鈥渙ne size fits all鈥 approach. As students walk into our classrooms, we want to provide the option to choose what type of seating works best for them. Through the implementation of these K'Motion stools, we also imagine the ability to help students learn more about themselves as a learner. Do they like to wiggle while they read or only when they are drawing? We are confident the stools will bring a new excitement to sitting down and getting started on the task at hand. These innovative stools give students options and choice. We differentiate for students with classroom materials and assignments, why not differentiate their seating as well?
