More and more students around our school are showing that they need extra sensory input to be the best learners they can be each day. Not only students with special needs, but also general education students are showing this need. Break boxes full of sensory materials that can be accessed by all students will help give students the input they are craving, as well as helping keep them in their classrooms instead of having to access another area to give them a break. The break boxes will include a variety of textures, weights, and visuals to appeal to many different senses. Weighted collars will be available to give students heavy pressure they may need seeking, visuals and tactile fidgets to help students calm and refocus, as well as a rolling hand massager to provide pressure and texture input. Having break boxes in each grade level area as well as the special education rooms will allow many students to have access to this resource.
