The main resources I see my students using is a classroom carpet. We started doing a reading program called "Daily 5," where students get to spend their time actively engaged in their choice of five different reading activities. Part of the program is having a gathering place for the class. Right now we are just using our desks, but it would be beneficial to have a carpet area to use to build classroom community. Another part of the program is finding a comfortable spot to read so students can build their reading stamina. Currently, the students have the option of their desk or sitting on the hard tile floor. I would love to see my students able to sit on the floor to read and feel comfortable, as well as have a place for our whole class to gather and discuss what we read.
