The children will use the rest mats to rest their growing bodies and minds during our daily rest time. Currently we do not have enough rest mats in good condition to use in our classroom. On the first day of school, the students are asked to bring in a small blanket to use during this time. There are usually a few students who do not bring in blankets or forget to return them after being washed. If they do not have a blanket, they have to lay on the hard floor without the comfort of a soft bedding under them. If they do have a blanket, they lay on that and then do not have anything to keep them warm during the cold Buffalo months. If we get the rest mats that we are hoping for, the children will be able to rest on their comfortable mats and use their blankets to cover up with.
The children have long days of learning and working, so they are usually in great need of a rest during the school day. We hope to make them as comfortable as possible, so their little bodies and minds can get the rest they need.
All of our Preschool children rest for over and hour and our Pre-Kindergarten children rest for 30 minutes. A full day of school at the age of three and four is very tiring. Please help make them as comfortable at school as you are when you go to bed.
