Students will be able to connect with the world around them without leaving their own town. These students often do not get to leave the state of Ohio, and therefore they don't get to see what other parts of the world have to offer. With a webcam, we will be able to talk with other schools around the United States and possibly the world. The students may also use this webcam to talk to other professionals such as historians, government officials, or even business owners as we work our way through our state standards.
With the funding of this project for a webcam and maps of the United States, there will be many opportunities for students to learn without leaving their own state or even classroom. This experience will introduce new communication concepts that are used in upper levels of education as well as the business world. Students will be able to combine the use of the maps and the camera to better understand geography and the people that live in those places.
