Our lives are complicated, and some days we all feel like pinballs, right? We're being bounced around from task to task, there is little stability in our days, and seeing the world as an enemy is the easiest way to live life. The three characters in this novel will be inspirations to my students and the book as a whole will have a significant impact on the way they view the world, their peers, and themselves when it comes to dealing with life's toughest issues. Abuse, depression, divorce, caring for one's own health, and finding strength in those with whom we surround ourselves are just a few of the broad concepts discussed in this novel. By using these topics to generate discussion, develop a deep understanding about self-worth, and to complete individual and group activities in class, this novel will make a difference in the way my students view their friends, their acquaintances, and themselves. By analyzing tough topics, this novel will help students to become more caring, compassionate, and persevering individuals when presented with life's most difficult "storms."
