My students need to organize their writing and reading. Each student will have more ownership of their reading by having their own differentiated materials. I have 2 classrooms of students and we need a way to keep our writing and reading supplies together. The wipes are to keep things clean for them. I want to help them to take care of their belongings.
Flashlight Friday: The flashlights are for Flashlight Friday. I let the students read silently in the dark. It is a fun way to encourage them to read and they enjoy it. Imagination is a wonderful way for a child to escape into a world of reading, especially when they are making educated choices about their own learning.
Because we have 2 class of students coming into the room, I would like to put shelves at the end of the students groups. I have put the students in adaptive grouping for more flexibilty of partnering and learning from each other. I wanted to make sure that no one has their back to the front of the class, where I am delivering instruction. However, the supplies they need will be right there in their group, so they can get their own supplies independently.
Book Boxes: We are learning that in education, every student learns at their own pace. So we as educators have to take a student where they are and move them forward from there. Each student will receive a book box that has books leveled at their own learning level. These books will be independent readers as well as group or intensive 1 on 1 individualized instruction. Our room is not big enough for 2 sets of desks, so I am accommodating by giving each student their own way to keep their items.
