Hello! I am Georgia Starling, and I teach 8th Grade English Language Arts at William James Middle School in Statesboro, Georgia. Our school is unique in that our demographics tend to fall right at the 50/50 mark, particularly with gender and Caucasian and African American races. Unfortunately, the poverty rate in our school's area is also quite high; we have students who come to school because it is their only source for love, food, and sometimes, shelter. The other 50% of students come to school without a worry of where their next meal will come from, and for that, I am thankful. For the children who come from families who cannot provide additional support in their children's educational needs financially, I have decided to turn to Donor's Choose to help fund small but necessary projects in my classroom.
