I have been inspired by some of the best speech-language pathologists in the field to incorporate mini sensory bins into my language therapy lessons. Sensory bins, using mini-objects and manipulatives, allow for more concrete learning of vocabulary and offer a variety of opportunities to target early language development.
Young children learn through play. My students have shown new levels of engagement and success in their language development since implementing these hands-on activities. By expanding my materials to use in my mini-sensory bins will allow me to create a continuum of learning opportunities across classroom themes. Children enjoy opening containers to find different surprises and sorting items into like categories. With your help, these little learners will remain engaged and excited and develop their language and vocabularies through play.
