In art this year we are focusing on art and culture from around the world. We need books to transport us to these different place. Our project will expose children to stories, traditions, and art from a variety of cultures and countries. We will create a art projects based on the stories we hear. Our inner city students do not get the opportunity to experience the world first hand. This project will allow them to expand their world view without ever leaving the art room.
In addition to the exposure to different countries our goal is to teach understanding and tolerance of peoples beliefs and ideas that differ from our own. Students will learn about different holidays and traditions celebrated throughout the year. We will have our own classroom celebrations each month to recognize a different culture.
The books we need will be our passport to the world. Please help our students fill their passports and express their creativity.
