I teach 6th grade at an inner city school that is Title I with 100% free lunch program. Many students in today's society may be facing struggles outside of the classroom, where learning could easily be the last thing on their minds. I strive to get all students to see what is waiting for them beyond the lives they know, beyond the classroom walls, beyond their neighborhoods and help show them that the sky is the limit! They LOVE hands on learning and getting involved in fun, positive, educational experiences. Regardless of their backgrounds or prior experiences, I am determined to expand their horizons and get them excited about the world we live in and beyond! Receiving funding to get them out of the classroom to experience meaningful encounters with science and their other subjects in the real world would be a total game changer for so many of my students! If not, my goal is to at least bring more fun to them!
