These materials will allow students the freedom to learn through student driven inquiry and play. The kitchen set and table will give students the opportunity to expand their social skills through dramatic play as well as life skills they use in the real world. Kindergarteners need materials that foster learning through play; these furniture items are developmentally appropriate and will support those needs.
Kindergarten is where students develop a love for reading. The beanbag chair and bookshelf will give students the motivation to read independently. With easy access to books, they will have the freedom to choose the ones they love without getting distracted by tubs of books. The beanbag chair will be a great motivator and support the students' engagement during 'Read to Self' time. The big book stand with a whiteboard on the front would be perfect for shared reading lessons. These lessons engage all students and build their confidence in their own reading skills. The whiteboard would extend these lessons for students to practice phonics, word work and sentence structure as a whole group, small group or individual.
